Chapter Funds

The Michigan Chapter has two funds that help to support our efforts. These are:

The Lisa Romig Memorial Fund
The Lisa Romig Memorial Fund was established by the Metropolitan Detroit Chapter in 1985 as a way of honoring the memory of a local woman who had Tourette Syndrome.

Lisa Christine Romig was born on August 1, 1962 in Royal Oak, Michigan. She graduated from Warren High School in 1982 and had a job with the Mt. Clemens Latch Key Program. Lisa had been active with the Metro Detroit Chapter as a part of the children's group meetings.

Lisa was staying at the Lawrence Hotel in Mt. Clemens when it caught fire September 21, 1985. She was killed in the blaze.

Contributions can be made in her name to the Michigan Chapter of the Tourette Syndrome Association. Donations help defray the costs associated with the children's activites during the monthly meetings.

The David Smith Memorial Fund
David Smith was active in the Detroit Metropolitan Chapter as a parent supporting his son, Terry. He was a printer and proud of his profession. One of the ways he helped the chapter was by donating all of the printing that had to be done. In honor of the man and his profession, his family established the fund for the purpose of covering expenses associated with the newsletter and other publications.
